Eyes on Christmas

The Christmas decorations are up around the church and people are busy planning for the holiday dinner and other Christmas activities.  To enhance that Christmas mood, we got our first snowfall this afternoon. We had many of our regular guests with us to worship, Norma, Ralph & Marge, and the Franks. The Abbotts brought some friends. Elaine brought her grandmother. People all stood around chatting so much after the service that there was only a half hour to eat lunch before the business meeting at 1:00.

Keep the food pantry in your prayers. It’s been getting a lot of use lately.

Boxes of Joy

The church family’s response to the Operation Christmas Child campaign was gratifying. 20 shoe boxes of gifts for boys and girls were collected this Sunday.

The congregation, members and visitors all came forward to pray over the boxes, asking God to bless the work of the missionaries who will distribute the gifts, and for the young boys and girls who will receive them.

A Cappella Day

We were singing our praises without our usual accompanying instruments today. Sean and Tonya were away, and since Clyde was visiting her mother, Kathy took over the kids’ classes. We made a joyful noise just the same.

It was nice to see Ralph and Marge with us, and Dom & Jody worshipping with us again. It was also great to see the Seth, Nancy and Katherine again.

LBC Wins Soccer Game

T
he LBC team came out on top 3-0 over the New Boston team. Team Captain Hannah scored one goal. Sean and Audrey each had one too.  LBC’s goalie, Ben “The Rock” Fontaine, stopped all of New Boston’s attempts. It was a great game. The fellowship time was great too. The New Boston Folks provided the hamburgers and hotdogs. The LBC folks provided the side dishes and desserts. Fortunately, they served the food after the game, or it would have been a lot slower paced game.

Worship Service Highlights: Nov. 2

Clyde shared her weekend hiking experiences with the kids. Pastor gave more info on the Shoebox Gift ministry program. (www.samaritanspurse.org/occ). Many of our regular guests were on hand to join in the worship (Dom & Jody, Joe & Dorothy, the Chans, Ralph & Marge) and some new faces too.
