Great Men’s Group Meeting
This month’s men’s group meeting (C.L.O.T.) was well attended. It was great to see Dave T and Joe Coski there, as well as a new guy, Steve’s friend Scott. There was the usual breakfasty snacks, but Austin said there should be eggs and bacon next time. He misses Dan. There was a lot of lively conversation as we discussed Proverbs 6. Pastor Jon summarized the passages with the idea that we have two lines of defense to head off sin before it gets to our hearts. One, our eyes — look away. Keeping our eyes fixed on sin only leads to thinking about it. Two, our thoughts. When sinful thoughts arise (as they often do), we need to ‘take them captive’ and focus on godly thoughts instead. To dwell on a sinful thought will lead to acting upon it. To keep a heart safer, we need to look away, and not dwell on the thoughts.
Question: How do you know the church is having a men’s group meeting? Look in the parking lot. If it’s full of pickup trucks, it’s probably a men’s group meeting.
