Great Day at LBC

This was a great day for the believers at LBC. We had three baptisms and added a new member too. First, the baptisms. Devin Roe, Laura Chase and Hanna Phaup had all requested baptism. The date was pushed back so that Kathy could be in church to see her son baptized. Each gave their testimonies before a rather full congregation of members and visitors.

Devin went first. He read his testimony about being saved much earlier but now realizing his need to be obedient to Christ and be baptized.  Laura read her testimony too. She grew up in LBC, being on of the kids the Phaups brought to Sunday School. She got saved back then, but her post high-school years saw a falling away. The Holy Spirit brought her back, both to Himself and LBC. Baptism was an important declaration for her, that she was His.  Hanna spook too of being saved as a young girl, but for some reason avoiding baptism. Lately, the Holy Spirit had been working on her heart and she knew it was time. Hanna asked Mr. Fontaine to be the one to baptize her. He was honored.

This afternoon, at our quarterly business meeting, Norma Graceffa came forward for membership. She and Natalie had been regular visitors at LBC since last June, when Pastor Jon was first candidating. She intended to check out other churches in the area, but never quite got around to it. She liked the family atmosphere at LBC. For our part, we always enjoyed having her as a visitor. Even better, now, to have her as part of the church family. Welcome Norma and Natalie.

Good Morning, C.L.O.T.

This morning, the men’s group (C.L.O.T.) met at the church. Over coffee and donuts, there was some great discussion. It started with the passage in John 10:10 — just what is this “abundant life” Jesus spoke of. This led into sharing of experiences in which God’s blessings could be seen in their individual lives.  Pastor Jon reminded everyone of the value in having someone to be accountable to, so encouraged all present to call their accountability partners in the weeks to come.

For next month, read Galatians 6. What is the “Law of Christ” mentioned in Galatians 6:2?  Hope to see you there next month.

New Arrival

Full Resurrection Sunday

This year’s Resurrection Day started off “full” with a big breakfast being served after a brief opening service at 9:30. (photo breakfast below)

Following breakfast, we had a full house for the morning service. Some of our members were away with family for the holiday, but most of our regular visitors were on hand, as was a new visiting family from the area. The songs of praise and celebration were all the more powerful. (photo of full house below)

There was also some special music, full of praise. We had a flute and piano combo (via LaNaya and Tanya) playing Amazing Grace. Dom Scrapa sang a special heart-felt song about the crucifixion. (photo below)

Even without Clyde present for a kids’ message, we still got them together for an Easter Kids photo. (below) In addition to our regulars, we had the two Martin boys, (Ella didn’t want to come up front this time) and Jordan — who was not shy at all about joining in with the other kids. Grace reluctantly agreed to come up and we had Riley this Sunday too.

It was a very full and well-blessed day, celebrating the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Good Conference Weekend

This past Saturday and Sunday, LBC hosted Dr. and Mrs Peck from Baptist Church Planters. There were three sessions on Saturday, with separate ones for a men’s study and a women’s study, as well as a couple of whole-group sessions. On Sunday, Dr. Peck taught on his theme of “Becoming and Overcomer” in the Sunday School and Regular Service. Elijah, a man who knew great highs and sudden deep lows, was a frequent example. In the afternoon service, he spoke on biblical ways of overcoming discouragement.

We all enjoyed having the Pecks come and teach. For their part, the Pecks were glad to have met us in person. Through BCP, the Bennetts, the Moores and the Novy’s, they knew all about LBC. Now they have faces to go with the names.

Peep Powered

This Sunday, Clyde, once again, had a big crop of kids for her kids’ message moment.  As an example of sharing something very dear and precious, she brought in a “Peep” for each of the kids.  Clyde loves Peeps more than any other food. It would be easy for her to hoard them at home for only her own enjoyment, but God wants us to share. After all, He shared with us something very dear to Him — His son.

Now, whether it was a good idea, or not, to get all those kids sugared up on Peeps before Children’s Church…  actually, they did just fine.
