Summer in full swing

Pastor Jon just returned from a week of being guest-speaker at Camp Northfield. Many of our members were still away on vacations, however. The pews did not seem all that empty, however, as we had quite a few guests. Pastor Jon’s brother and his family were visiting. They filled a pew just by themselves. We also had a couple from Litchfield checking us out. Despite all the travelers, there were still plenty of kids on hand. Kathy led the children’s message. Since Clyde is in Florida getting things ready for Bonnie’s wedding — this coming Saturday!

This afternoon, we completed the last installment of the Way of the Master, intermediate series.

Work on the bathrooms is proceeding. Ben has other jobs to attend to, so things have settled down. Still, he has the sheetrock up and compound on.  Soon will begin the difficult task of picking wall colors.

Announcements:

July - Wednesday evenings will be devoted to getting things ready for Old Home Days.

Please remember to pray for our many members who are traveling.

Showers of Blessings

The pews can be a bit sparse in summertime, what with many folks on vacation and traveling. Yet, this Sunday we had several travelers back and some guests too.  Pastor Chrissy and his family stopped in on their way back from Maine to Rowley Mass. It was good to see Adam and Norma back again. Marge was feeling good enough to attend too. Definitely a blessing.

After the service, we held a sort of bridal shower in-absentia for Bonnie who is getting married down in Florida very soon. We had a festive cake, which Clyde happily doled out to one and all.

and the kids (of all ages) happily consumed. Only a quarter of the cake was left for poor Vernon to deal with.  After all the feasting, some of the folks who knew Bonnie (we have many new people who don’t), taped a few minutes of well-wishes for her.  Below, the normally boisterous Makenna had to be coaxed into talking on tape, but finally did.

Announcements:

Old Home Days: Work continues on Weds. nights and other times, on the float and booth components. All hands needed and welcome.  Matching shirts were ordered too. We’ll look cool. :-)

Pastor Away: This week, Pastor Jon is at Camp Northfield as one of their guest speakers.

Freedom & New Bathroom Work

Many church members were away for the holiday weekend, but with several guests, the pews didn’t feel very empty.  The kids were all wearing red white and blue. Pastor Jon had on his flag tie. It was a time of celebration for the freedoms we yet have in this country — freedom to worship our Lord publicly. In Sunday School we were learning about religious oppression, even in America, with pastors jailed for preaching outside of established churches, etc. We can thank Him for the freedom we have today.

Bathroom Work Begins

We’ve been planning to remodel our tiny dark bathrooms for many years, but the work began in earnest during the last week in June.  Thanks to a generous gift from Meteviers, and three years of putting money aside, we have just about enough for the job.  It will be a big boost for the facility to have the new, larger bathrooms (handicapped accessible too!). This week, Ben and Josh will frame up the new walls. The plumber comes back this week too, to run all his copper. These are exciting times (even it a bit messy) around LBC.

Announcements:

Wednesday Nights — working on Old Home Days projects. Much to do!

Showers of Blessings — July 12th. A cake will be on hand for our noon meal, to celebrate the coming marriage of Bonnie and Steve (yay Bonnie!). More info is on the bulletin board.
