Special Guests: The Novys!

We had a special treat this Sunday. Pastor and Jan Novy dropped by for our Sunday services. They caught everyone by surprise.  It was not easy for Pastor Jon to get everyone quieted down in their seats to start Sunday School. There were just too many conversations and getting caught up. It had been over a year since the Novy’s moved back south to Florida.

Pastor Novy got to hear Tanya play the piano in our worship service. She was the piano player he always wished he could have had.  There was plenty of extra food on hand for lunch time, so the Novy’s joined us for lunch. Even that hour of conversation was not enough to get caught up. Pastor Jon had to herd us back in for the afternoon service too.  It really was great seeing the Novy’s again.

Old Home Days

We had a long hot Saturday, this past weekend, with the Londonderry Old Home Days celebrations. LBC had a booth on the commons again. The caterpillar craft was very popular. The Feed-The-Frog game was also a draw.  The movable turtle helped it be more age appropriate.  Many coloring books and tracts were handed out.  We also had a float in the parade this year. This time, we had plenty of kids to sit in it and wave.

Thanks to everyone who gave of their time or resources to help the church be a visible witness in the community.

Countdown to OHD

Next Saturday will be the big Old Home Days event. Things are well on their way to completion. The float needs just a bit more work (technical and special effects). The LBC shirts are in and distributed. The coloring books are in too.  Work will continue this Wednesday, finishing up the last. All hands welcome.

At worship service today, we has special music from Anna, Claudette’s granddaughter. Anna plays very well.

This afternoon’s study began the simple topic of election. There was a lot of lively discussion, but as you might expect, an hour’s discussion could hardly have settled all the questions.

Summer Swing

We had Clyde back with us this Sunday, back from Bonnie’s wedding down in Florida. (see photo, for those of you not connected to Clyde’s Facebook page.)

It was good to have Clyde back for the kids’ story time. The food-stained shirt was a fun story. Things are still in that summer swing. Many are away. We still have many families traveling for the summer. It was great to see the Scarpas back from their camping. We had some guests too.

Things are gearing up for the Old Home Days. Work continues this Wednesday and this coming weekend.
