Filling In

Pastor Roe was in Michigan this weekend, to be with his father through his heart surgery. Despite short notice (his father’s heart attack was Friday), several church members were ready to step in and keep the work going.

Micheal lead the adult Sunday School, continuing the topic of overcoming discouragement. Clyde had her usual kids’ message and introduced us all to her baby grapefruit tree named Barbara. :-)  Mickey took over the duties as song leader. David filled in at the pulpit with a sermon about being “light” and not shadows to the lost. It was a blessing everyone actively helping in the work.

Coming Together

It was a beautiful peak-color day in southern New Hampshire. Many of our traveling families were back with us, and a returning guest too.  Clyde started things off with some acting auditions. The kids took turns trying to express different emotions with facial expressions: anger, surprise, happiness, etc. All of this was to set up her lesson on the difference between happiness and joy (true joy). Pastor continued his study in Romans 12 for the worship service and followed up with deeper study of Romans 12:1 in the afternoon. At lunch, it was great to have the additional fellowship. There was plenty of food to share with those who didn’t bring a lunch.

Announcements:

Church Hike — Oct 17, meet at the church at 8 a.m. Bring a sack lunch. Dress in layers. Everyone welcome.

Ladies Meeting — Oct 24 @ New Boston. See Delores for details.

C.L.O.T. Breakfast

This month’s men’s group meeting (Collectively Living Out the Truth) featured a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs (cooked by Austin), Micky’s famous biscuits and gravy and Sean’s french toast bake.

There was much more to it than just great food. There was great fellowship. The text covered was 1 Corinthians 1:10-17, about the need to remember that Christ is the head of the church, not a person. There was much lively discussion. Pastor Roe reminded those present that the online forum will be a good place to continue those discussions.

Rachel Browning: Food and Fun

We had a great feast on Saturday night, before Rachel Browning did her first presentation. As usual, there was plenty of food. (actually, enough to cover lunch on Sunday too)  We had several guests. Some were from the school Clyde teaches at. We also had Dick and Carol Casper stop in.

Rachel put on quite a show. She had several of her puppet friends with her. The kids (and adults) were well entertained. Each puppet skit had a clear biblical message. On Sunday, she had more puppets for the Sunday School hour. During the regular worship hour, she told a story while doing a chalk drawing. Everyone enjoyed her presentation. We all shared a meal with her (and her mom) again at lunch.
